Over the last few weeks the UK has seen some of its most severe floods with no thanks to Storms Ciara and Dennis, resulting in hundreds of people having to move out of their homes because of the amount of rainfall that has fallen. Over the past few days we have had a large number of calls for #drains to be unblocked or fixed. Heavy rain can have a negative impact on the soil surrounding the #drainage pipes which then puts huge pressure on them as a result. This can cause cracks in the pipework, allowing soil and debris to enter the pipework and cause blockages. Heavy rainfall can also impact on foundations of buildings making them unstable. Excess water should be removed as soon as the rainfall has stopped, allowing the ground to dry.
