REMEMBER FAILING TO PLAN, IS PLANNING TO FAIL

The Environmental Agency introduced new rules on sewage treatment January 1st 2015. The general binding rules state that you must use a small #sewage treatment plant to treat the sewage if you’re discharging to a surface water such as a stream or river.

The new rules also lay out a requirement that all septic tanks discharging directly to a #surface water must be replaced or upgraded to sewage treatment plants which meet the required standards. All new sewage treatment plants must by installed by January 1st 2020.

As a homeowner you will be familiar with maintaining your home every now and again, the same applies for your #septic tank should you have one.

Under new legislation, if your #septic tank discharges to surface water, you will need to install a small sewage treatment plant which cleans the liquid before it goes into the river or stream. This must be completed before 1st January 2020, or when you sell the property, whichever is soonest.

Your #septic tank must be maintained properly. If the tank becomes a problem for other members of the public, your local council or authority can and will, get involved, insisting that it be properly cleaned. If you have a permit for your tank, this will also outline set conditions that you will have to make sure you meet.

Planned preventative maintenance – School Drainage

Car-parks, Playground and large roof areas have to deal with large volumes of rain water often in a short space of time. If gullies, aco drainage and grids are not maintained and cleaned on a regular basis the water off cannot make it into the below ground drainage system and you may get localised flooding.  A natural build up of debris and silt over time will cause blockages in grids and gullies, and the occasional aluminium cans, plastic bottles and crisp packets wont help either.
